Sparks Stories: Scott and Carrie

After the ring is made and the question is popped, we sit down with real ASJ couples to find out what sparked their love…

“We are both passionate, driven and stubborn people. This has created a pretty cool journey for us together.”

Scott and CarrieWhen Scott and Carrie reflect back on their relationship and wonder about when they knew it was forever, they couldn’t necessarily pinpoint one defining moment. As many relationships go, it was more of a spark that started a growing fire as they got to know each other and learn to navigate the world as a pair. As Scott describes, “I’m not sure there is one defining moment [that we knew we wanted to get married], but we both felt pretty intense sparks on the first date. With every major step we’ve made in our relationship since, it has gotten better. This sealed the deal.”

“We are both passionate, driven (and stubborn) people. This has created a pretty cool journey for us together,” Carrie adds. Both midwesterners and business owners, Carrie and Scott met in Denver through online dating and ended up moving to Wisconsin together just before their engagement.

Despite their impending move, the two wanted to work with a jeweler that was local to Denver. It was important to them that their engagement ring was ethical, and typically working one-on-one with a jeweler, rather than a big-box retail store, is the best way to know where your stone is coming from.

Taking a semi-untraditional route, Carrie and Scott went through some of the process of getting engaged and finding the ring as a team.

“I was involved throughout the whole process at the level I wanted to be. One of my favorite experiences of the process was going to Abby Sparks together, drinking an IPA and hand picking our center stone together,” Carrie says.

When asked what advice they had for other couples going through this process, Scott added, “For the guys: Listen to her and don’t be afraid to be open and ask for her opinion. Be creative with the design to make it reflect both of you (but mainly her).”

Congratulations to Scott and Carrie, who were recently engaged with this custom montana sapphire and canadian diamond halo ring. Both business owners, they designed Carrie’s ring to be practical and durable for her busy lifestyle, without sacrificing her dream look. ASJ Clients: Would you like to be featured on Sparks stories?
